Anyone that knows me knows I am a big, big fan of Sonia Roselli. She is a one-of-a-kind human being. The real deal in the beauty world. Sonia is a no-nonsense, truth-talker.

Her willingness to share and teach (check out her educational empire that is Glossischool) puts her in a game all on her own.

When every celebrity makeup artist has a masterclass vehicle to peddle their latest makeup line, Sonia does it logically, personally. Honestly.

Sonia Roselli Skin Prep

Sonia Roselli’s products come as a result of her own needs and experiences as a makeup artist. And that is truly evident when you use any of them.

It’s only natural that I finally begin highlighting her skin prep products. I’m such a big fan!

I’m excited to introduce you to some of the most efficient, honest and humble beauty products around.

I want to share the one that I think is something of an underground cult hit – the Sonia Roselli Water Oil.

But first, let’s learn a little more about Sonia.

Who is Sonia Roselli?

Sonia Roselli is a veteran makeup artist with over 20 years of experience. Her impressive background in makeup and esthetics has led to a small and mighty collection of essential skincare products that she logically refers to as “skin prep.”

Sonia is an animal lover and she swears like a sailor.

Enough said. Now let’s dive into her self-confessed fave, the Sonia Roselli Water Oil.

Sonia Roselli Water Oil

For as long as I can remember, I was told that oil and water don’t mix. Well, we all know that there are exceptions to the rules.

And in this case, Water Oil (a brilliant contradiction in terms, thanks Sonia!) is truly a mix worth dabbling in.

If you’re like the many among us who are terrified of anything even remotely oil-based, please cast your fears aside.

Sonia Roselli Water Oil is nothing to be afraid of. It may well be the product to entice you into the world of oil-based skin care and help you overcome your fears once and for all.

The very fine and light texture of Sonia Roselli Water Oil

Texture

Water Oil is very light in texture. It doesn’t feel heavy or thick. And it goes on like a dream.

As with all of Sonia’s skin prep products, it is undoubtedly worth taking the time to do some groundwork. This way you can find out exactly how to apply the products correctly, and in doing so get the maximum benefits out of them. You may just learn something.

For instance, I was using way too much Water Oil in one application.

The application is pretty simple, and a little goes a long way (as is the case with practically all of her skin prep products).

.

Follow these steps when using Water Oil:

  • Shake the Water Oil bottle well
  • Press a couple of pumps into the palm of your hands
  • Press your palms together
  • Press your palms gently onto your face, throat, and decolletage
  • Gently pat the water oil evenly across these areas, and you’re set!

Beneficial Properties of Sonia Roselli Water Oil

Sonia’s Water Oil is almost a must-have if you are experiencing acne, eczema, or particularly dry skin. Or if you’re not.

Water Oil is perfect for all skin types, but cannot be shied away from if you are oily. (Have you got that yet?)

Squalane (derived from olives) is a massive winner and the second ingredient to water.

So all those oil-fearing beauty-lovers among us can take a deep breath and read on. The olive-derived squalane is actually a plus if you do have oily skin.

It is non-comedogenic, meaning it won’t clog your pores one bit. It also contains anti-inflammatory properties and will help to reduce redness as well.

Sea Buckthorn Oil which is loaded with natural anti-oxidants, and among other benefits, contains all 4 omega fatty acids. These will aid in healing your skin and help prevent dryness.

Japanese Camellia Oil can aid in keeping moisture locked into your skin and give your skin that ‘plump’ look we all aspire to.

Argan Oil will help to increase your skin’s elasticity. It may also contain anti-inflammatory ingredients to help with the repair of skin tissue.

Oryza Sativa (Rice) Bran Oil to help with the texture of your skin. Rice Bran Oil will help your skin feel and look smoother and more supple.

Avocado Oil is a healing and hydrating wonder-oil that will help protect your skin from environmental damage and UV radiation.

Jojoba Seed Oil will aid in regulating those sebum levels in your skin. It is also hypoallergenic, non-comedogenic, and can be beneficial for acne, eczema, and dry skin sufferers alike.

Glycine Soja Oil (Soybean Oil) is packed with Vitamin E so it will help keep your skin healthy and happy.

Sesamum Indicum Oil (Sesame Seed Oil) is anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial. It is also non-comedogenic, so again, we have ingredients that help this product be a perfect product for you if you do suffer from overly oily skin, or you are experiencing acne.

Wait, you should also know this!

Sonia Roselli Water Balm is not only cruelty-free and vegan. It is also free from parabens, fragrance, gluten, and nut products.

Uses

Basically, Sonia’s Water Oil is the quick hydration burst your skin probably needs right now.

Particularly as we head into the colder months of the year in the USA. We tend to under-nourish and under-dehydrate our skin (and ourselves) when it’s cold outside.

If I’m working inside, and the A/C is causing my dry skin a little extra grief, I like to give a little press and refresh with some Water Oil in the afternoon. It rejuvenates my skin for the rest of the day.

Currently, I’m trying out a little experiment, when it is the ONLY skincare product I’m using! Yes, you read this correctly. (And I’m not wearing any makeup at the moment!) So it’s just water oil for two weeks to see how we go.

So far so good! My skin is feeling great. And to be honest, I could probably even use this 4 times a day and be fine with it.

At work on set, I will pop a pump or few into my water spray bottle when I’m required to create a sweat or “glow” look on a performer for a particular scene. Works like a charm and is good for the actor’s skin as well!

Well, the secret’s out. I can’t wait to see what Sonia comes up with next!

Stay tuned to read more on Sonia Roselli’s other skin prep products as I share my love for them with you in the future as well!

Happy Skin Prep!
