Episode 34: Show notes

Colorescience Flesh Tone Palette

As a makeup artist of over 25 years of experience in film and TV, I have come across countless makeup and skincare products.
However, only a handful of products truly stand out when it comes to achieving a flawless complexion.

In this 5 Minute Face Talk episode, I’m thrilled to share with you one of my all-time favorite makeup products – the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette.

And I mean that description – this really is one of my favorite makeup products. Ever.

I have probably bought at least 10 or 15 of them over time. I have recommended them to so many of my peers and other pro makeup artists, so now, I’m thrilled to introduce it to you as well.

The Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette is like a hidden gem in the world of makeup – a true sleeper hit.
It’s akin to that classic movie that inexplicably flies under the radar, despite its exceptional quality.

As soon as you lay your hands on this palette, you’ll understand just how remarkable it is.

What sets this palette apart is its ability to address specific skin concerns with precision.

Whether it’s redness, discoloration, or imperfections, the Mineral Corrector Palette comes to the rescue. What’s even more impressive is that it’s a powder palette, making it incredibly convenient and easy to use in our fast-paced daily lives.

One of the key elements that makes the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette so effective is the range of shades it offers, and moreso, what those shades do.
With pigments designed to correct redness, blues, yellows, and greens in the skin, this palette is truly a game-changer.

The fact that it contains SPF 20 adds an extra layer of protection, making it an ideal choice for everyday wear.

I also really enjoy and appreciate the thought and care that went into the sleek design of this palette.

And the bonus inclusion of a high-quality makeup brush is a testament to the brand’s commitment to delivering a superior product.

Unlike many other palettes, the brush that accompanies the Mineral Corrector Palette is not an afterthought; it’s a vital tool that enhances the application experience.

Given my years of experience as a makeup artist, I’ve seen my fair share of products, and I can say with confidence that the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette is a must-have in any makeup kit, especially for those working in film and TV.

The palette’s ability to provide quick touch-ups and light coverage, particularly for male grooming work, makes it an invaluable asset on set.

Now, there’s always a but, right?

So here’s mine.

While I wholeheartedly endorse the efficacy of the Mineral Corrector Palette, there is one issue that I feel compelled to address.
As much as I adore this product, I am adamant that Colorescience should expand its shade range by offering medium and deep versions of the palette.
Doing so would elevate this already phenomenal product to even greater heights, ensuring that it caters to a far wider spectrum of skin tones.

It’s surprising to me that a palette of this caliber isn’t more widely celebrated.

Often, bigger mainstream brands dominate the spotlight, leaving exceptional products like the Mineral Corrector Palette overlooked. It’s a reminder that high-quality, effective products don’t always receive the attention they deserve.

I’m super excited to introduce you to the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette. If you’ve ever struggled with skin imperfections or redness, this palette truly is a lifesaver. I’ve lost count of the number of these palettes I’ve gone through over the years, a testament to just how indispensable they are in my makeup routine.

So before I go, I’ll leave you with this – it’s a product that has seamlessly integrated itself into my professional and personal makeup routines, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Whether you’re a makeup enthusiast, a working professional, or someone looking to effortlessly perfect their complexion without the feeling of a heavy cream coverage, this palette is a must-try.

I hope that this post has shed some light on the brilliance of the Mineral Corrector Palette and encouraged you to consider incorporating it into your beauty arsenal.

Episode Transcript

[00:00:00]: Well, hello. I am extra excited about this episode because it means I get to talk about one of my absolute all-time favorite makeup products, and I feel like this product is a bit of a sleeper hit.
It’s like that really solid classic movie that a lot of people have never seen, but there’s just no reason why.

There’s no understanding as to why something so good isn’t screamed to the heavens by everybody, because this product is really that good.

00:01:06]: Well, that sleeper hit is the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette, and I’m excited to share with you one of its masterful strokes.

I know there are a lot of you that have really clear, even skin, and we make up a lot of people that also have really clear, even skin, and particularly men in this instance. They really apply to the use of this palette for me. And you might not even like wearing makeup on a daily basis, either. I certainly never did until quite recently, at least in terms of my foundation makeup.
There’s just something about feeling greasy or sweaty, and it just feels uncomfortable for me. And having come from the last three years of daily mask wearing at work, it didn’t feel in any way natural to wear either a full foundation face or even a partial one, come to think of it, when the lower half of my face was just covered in a mask for so long.

So, having said that, there are definitely days where I get the odd spot of redness (everyday), or some kind of discoloration that requires even just a little attention in one localized spot on my face.

[00:02:20]: And for correcting those red spots, the Color Science Mineral Corrector Palette is exactly what you need.

Now, did I mention that it’s a powder palette yet? I don’t know if I said powder, but yeah, it’s a powder palette. It’s really cool.

And for the sake of absolute convenience and a master design stroke pardon the pun, it comes with its very own little makeup brush. And generally speaking, brushes within palettes are usually pretty crappy quality, let’s be honest. But I’m not referring to Colorescience as such.
But for once, the brush is actually really solid and it’s compact, and I love it. I love everything about the Colorescience.

[00:03:00]: I love everything about the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette.

It contains, I think, five shades that correct reds, blues, even yellows and greens in the skin.

And now, obviously, these are all the different shades within the palette, and the product stays. You can sweat through it. Do what you need to do, and it still gets on with its job quietly. It just gets the job done. I mean, maybe you can say that this palette has a really good work ethic.

I’ve even created a blog post on the thing, and you can check it out.

[00:03:30]: I’ll link it in the show notes if you want to get into more details about the Colorescience Mineral Corrector Palette, and it also contains an SPF of 20 as well.
If you’re a working makeup artist, this palette is a must for your onset kit or for your actor bags too.

And if you’re involved with a lot of male grooming work, this palette can be your best go-to for quick touchups or for anyone that really doesn’t need or want a lot of makeup, but you still need to do some coloring or correcting or even light coverage.

In fact, my only real issue with the palette is there is only one, and what I mean by that is that I feel really strongly about this, actually. There should be at least a medium and a deep version of these palettes on offer.
If Color Science released those two versions of shade ranges within the Mineral Corrector Palette, this would be a ten out of ten, maybe even like a twelve out of ten, for sure, but without it, it’s a solid nine. Nevertheless, I’m sharing this palette with you today because I know that there are people that just haven’t heard of it, because I think it’s not sort of shouted and screamed at us like a lot of the bigger, more mainstream brands.

[00:04:46]: But that doesn’t mean that products aren’t high quality or effective or useful for you.

So, yeah, that’s something else to think about, isn’t it?

That sometimes in the forums when people are having problems and looking for a solution, and oftentimes Colorescience has the product, that’s the answer, and these people have never heard of it.

So I hope that if you haven’t heard of Colorescience, I am thrilled to be able to expose you to it and that I hope you’ll consider giving the Mineral Corrector Palette from Colorescience a go in the future, because it’s kind of a lifesaver and a bit of a game changer as well.

It’s really that good. I’ve lost count of how many of these palettes I’ve bought over the years, because I go through them that quickly.

They’re just awesome. All right, my friend, that’s it. That’s the end.

[00:05:34]: I’ll see you next time. Thanks. Bye.
